Republican Credibility

How can an effective argument for advancing GOP candidates be made if certain incumbent GOP representatives (e.g., Senators Specter, Collins, Snow, et alia), in the spirit of bipartisanship (compromise or worse, appeasement), inadvertently advance the ideals of the opposing party? The advantages of free enterprise, limited government, individual initiative and responsibility are easily explained and the concepts readily accepted as valid toward the preservation of liberty and overall quality of life. The forces aligned against conservatives are immense. The media, Hollywood, elementary through graduate educational institutions, politically motivated ecological science, advocacy groups, activist judges and outspoken charismatic Democrat leaders all make our efforts to reach and convince those in our daily sphere of influence difficult enough without the undercutting actions of elected representatives of our party.

So, what to do? We are advised to contact our elected representatives to let them know our opinions, but do they care? With a reported 40% of the earmarks in the latest spending bill (H.R.1105) sponsored by members of our party, it appears as though they do not. The members who sponsored these earmarks and the members who voted for the bill should be identified and challenged in the primaries. Those who voted against should be commended heartily and supported. In the meantime, despite blows to our moral, we must continue to educate and promote purported values of our party.
